No Evening Delivery during Winter
Monday, Jan 17, 2011
We have been lucky so far, but for the remainder of the winter we will not be offering Wednesday evening delivery. This is because it is difficult to deliver glass jars in the dark with possible icy and snowy conditions. Sorry if this inconveniences our evening customers. We will be adding more space to our daytime slots to accommodate. Also during the winter the pickup option is only recommended for people who live in Flatrock or nearby. The roads can get pretty slippery and icy especially on our lane.

Holiday Gift Certificates
Friday, Nov 26, 2010
You can now order holiday gift certificates. All gift certificates must be pre-ordered. You can pick-up certificates on Dec 22nd or 23rd at the Bookery (Sweet Relic) on Signal Hill. (Same time & place as our HOLIDAY SOUP PICK-UP. Details on that coming soon...) We can also deliver certificates IF YOU ORDER SOUP on Dec 8/9 or Dec 15/16. Order now.

New Delivery Schedule
Monday, October 11, 2010
We've revamped our delivery schedule to better meet the soup demand. Your delivery options are now based on where you are located. Please see the Order page and About page for delivery specifics.

Special Fall Harvest Menu -- Pickup Only
Monday, Oct 4, 2010
There will be no regular soup delivery next week on Wednesday Oct 13. This is so we can bring you our special FALL HARVEST MENU. (Pickup time is from 12PM - 3PM on Saturday Oct 16) We will be featuring three fall soups, inspired by the beautiful produce of three local farms. (Two of these soups are not part of the regular menu and only available at this time.) This will likely become a yearly event and is nice chance to get out for a scenic drive. The ordering window will remain open until we sell out. Please note we will return to our delivery schedule the following week. We will be adding more delivery times so we can better meet the soup demand. Details coming next week.

Igor Schedule Change
Monday, September 22, 2010
Daytime delivery will not occur today due to numerous business closures and closed roads. All daytime deliveries will now occur tomorrow Thursday 23rd from 9am-3pm. Evening deliveries/pickups will remain the same for this evening. Thanks to the good people of Flatrock we had a backup generator keeping all your soup good and cold all night.

New Schedule Coming
Monday, September 20, 2010
We'll be adjusting our schedule slightly in a couple weeks -- this is so we can offer more soup as we have been selling out weekly. Details coming soon... We're also hoping hurricane Igor doesn't impact our deliveries for Wednesday. If it does then any changes in schedule will be posted on this section of our website.

One Week Break
Monday, August 16, 2010
We're taking a short break so there will be no menu posted next week. This means there will be NO delivery on Wednesday, September 1. The next menu will be posted Monday, August 30 for delivery/pickup on Wednesday, September 8. PS. Cod Chowder sold out quickly on the weekend. It was a great success. Look for more pick-up specials with cod, lamb and hopefully moose in the fall.

Photo of Cod
Monday, August 9, 2010
Here's a picture of a 33lb cod I caught. (Well... I got it on the line and my friends and expert fishers, Eileen and Glenn, got it in the boat.)

Photo of Beets Etc...
Monday, August 2, 2010
Here's a picture of some beets Gerhard and Fredrique from the Flatrock Farm are growing for us for fall. This week we're using some of the tops in the Chana Masala.

For those who ordered from our last menu, remember delivery/pickup is changed to Tuesday Aug 3. Please note though, we're back to our regular Wednesday schedule with this menu -- Wednesday August 11. We're also planning to take a break at the end of August to prepare for what we anticipate will be a busy fall. The exact dates will be posted soon.

Regatta Day Schedule Change
Monday, July 26, 2010
For next week only delivery and pickup will occur on TUESDAY (August 3rd) because REGATTA DAY falls on Wednesday (August 4th). We will resume regular Wednesday delivery the following week (August 11th).

Pickups
Monday, July 5, 2010
We’ve had people show up in Flatrock disappointed there was no soup available. Sorry for any confusion. Pickup orders are placed a week in advance in the same manner as delivery. However, always feel free to drop by and say hello if you’re out in our area.

Lovage
Monday, June 21, 2010
My friend Frederique has tons of lovage growing in her garden. She offered us some with the challenge of coming up with a soup to showcase this herb. It has a wonderful flavour (and a beautiful name). It's kind of like celery but with a mild curry flavor.

Summer Hours
Monday, May 31, 2010
We're changing our delivery days for the summer beginning with next week's delivery. There will still be two deliveries - both a daytime and an evening one. Daytime Delivery will now be offered on Wednesdays from 9-3pm and the evening delivery on Wednesdays from 5-8pm. This is a slight deviation from our original plan for summer hours but works out better with our suppliers. Anyone wanting to pickup can still do so -- just arrange a time with us on an individual bases.

Spring Soups and Made Right Here
Monday, May 17, 2010
We had planned to offer the first of our spring soups this week – but the weather has been less than inspiring. (Maybe next week.) For anyone wanting to take a look inside our kitchen – Danielle Butt is featuring Red House Soups on the program MADE RIGHT HERE which airs tonight on NTV.

Avgolemono Soup
Monday, May 10, 2010
So very disappointed we can’t offer this soup – Avgolemono is a favourite but sadly it doesn’t reheat well with the eggs curdling. This video though is worth watching and put a smile on my face.

Changing Days
Monday, May 3, 2010
We’re going to be changing our delivery days soon for the summer. We will let you know the exact date. Hopefully, this will not inconvenience any of our regular customers. The Thursday evening delivery will be switched to Tuesday evening and Tuesday evening pick-ups can be arranged on an individual basis. Tuesday daytime delivery will remain the same. Please let us know if this is a problem for you. This schedule change is so we can bring you an exciting new service we’re working on. Details coming soon!

Repeating Soups
Monday, April 26, 2010
We could keep going with new soups for a long time, but we’ve had so many requests for one of our first ones that we’ve decided to repeat it. Eventually, we get around to repeating soups especially if we have enough people asking – so let us know your favourites. You can stock up on the ones you love. Our soups can be frozen and will keep in the freezer for 3 months. But you should take them out of the glass container.

Having Company for Dinner?
Sunday, April 25, 2010
Serve soup as your first course. You can get 6 small appetizer bowls out of a litre.

We're looking Forward to Summer
Monday, April 19, 2010
Red House Soups just secured a deal with a small farm in Flatrock (run by the lovely Gerhard and Frederique) to supply some of our produce starting this summer. I’m already dreaming about the first crop of zucchini and the marvellous beets they’re planning to grow. We also give our vegetable cuttings to the same farm. So keep ordering soup! We want to make sure their sheep are full and happy.

Send Soup to Someone
Monday, April 12, 2010
Have a friend/relative who isn’t feeling well or needs cheering up? Send soup instead of flowers. You could also do something nice for your grandmother.

First Delivery Tomorrow
Monday, March 29, 2010
Looking forward to meeting and feeding everyone who ordered soup! We will soon be offering the option of signing up for a month of soup. This ensures you always get soup and eliminates the need to order each week. Details coming mid-April.
